Calling all North GA Unit members! Volunteers are needed to assist with planning, hosting and/or presenting Continuing Education Units and other activities throughout the entire North Georgia unit. Please contact Sabrina Goodson North Georgia Unit Board Representative if you would like to help establish a professional network in your locality.
Thank you very much to all the members of the North Georgia Unit who came out and supported the Meet Your Representative event held at the Georgia chapter education center on Saturday, July 20th. The turnout was great and the ideas and conversation flowed well. We covered a great deal about membership, insurance, how to advocate for our profession, and other hot topics dear to the membership. I will be sure to share all concerns with the Board of Directors at our next meeting scheduled for August 17th in Macon, GA. Please feel free to keep the conversation going by emailing me with any additional concerns or suggestions at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you again for your support.

The North Georgia Unit of the National Association of Social Workers, Georgia Chapter is collecting toys as a community service project to help Childkind provide toys for their kids during the holidays.
The holidays are quickly approaching, and for Childkind, that means 130 children with special healthcare needs in foster care, and their siblings, will be in need of gifts. Founded in 1988, Childkind a unique organization that empowers families caring for children with special healthcare needs and developmental disabilities. In some instances, a child is unable to live with their biological family—due to abuse, neglect, or simply because a family was unable to care for their child’s complex medical needs. Childkind not only assists those families with biological children who have special healthcare needs, but finds skilled, loving foster homes for those children who are unable to live at home.
Childkind is in need of “general” gift items for the following age groups:
· 6-12 months; and
· teenager (14-18 years old)
As well, gift cards to major retailers are most helpful to the organization to help gather gifts.
We will be collecting donations until noon on Thursday, December 12th at the Chapter Office, 100 Edgewood Avenue NE, Suite 830, Atlanta, GA 30303. If you are interested in donating during the North Georgia Unit toy drive for Childkind, please contact James Pace at the Chapter Office at (404) 525-8047 or email@example.com to make arrangements for us to accept your donations (to ensure someone is available to accept the donation).
